4 Tech Trends to Make Your Life Easier

Kia and I are in Portland, Oregon attending The Storyline Conference sponsored and featuring author Don Miller. I look forward to sharing more with you about the conference. I thought I would share a few articles from before the true beginning of The Collective.

We’re just a few days away from a brand new year, and as you know that means an opportunity to start over, makes changes and generally challenge yourself in new ways. So, I thought I would share a list of 4 things to make your Tech life just a bit easier.

  1. Dropbox. I recently downloaded this free app that helps move your files into the “cloud.” I have to admit, I hate that term “cloud” It probably stems from that horrible Windows commercial that makes you think you can retouch in a snap with the help of some online database – really? But this program can do things from making your life just a little more simple to some down right sweet things. The main thing I like about it is that it allows you to share files simply and quickly between computers no matter where you are. Add a file to the dropbox file on your main computer, and you can download it to another computer you choose. The only down side is that if you don’t use this as your main storage system, you have to think ahead to what you will need and when. For a ton of other applications for Dropbox check out this article.
  2. iPhone Photography. No it won’t replace your sweet new Canon or Nikon, but it can work in a pinch (family shots, etc). Also it’s a ton of fun to play with if you have the right apps. Check out this Mashable article with 10 great images and the apps they used to make them.
  3. Mac Apps. Sorry PC people, but Macs are really better. So, I don’t have anything for you (except #1). This article has a list of 80 apps for your Mac that will make things  run a little more smooth and easy. A couple of my favorites are Camouflage and MagicPrefs.
  4. iPad. Just do it. Buy it. It will change your life – and most likely your next vacation. (okay, you may want to wait for the new version reportedly coming out this coming Spring)

I look forward to hearing about this trip! I read Don’s book last year about his story and loved it!

Jason, we just finished up the conference and I honestly have a ton of info to still work through. I highly recommend the conference and Portland experience in general. More details to come :)
